These are the letters that give Swedish language its exotic look.
Shortly, you might say that the dots are there to make pronunciation easier, separating different sounds. Nowhere else will you find all three letters in an alphabet, although Å is found in other Nordic languages and the Ä or Ö in Finnish, Hungarian, Turkish and German.
Sweden is a long, narrow country some 1,800 kilometres from north to south and 500 kilometres from east to west.
It is sparsely populated with a density of 22 people per square kilometre. When you compare this with Japan’s 337 or Great Britain’s 241, you can see why the Swedes’ close relationship with nature is a part of the national soul.
Stockholm, City on the Water
The Swedish capital is often called “The Venice of the North” and one of the most attractive capitals in the world. The city is built on 14 islands surrounded by the clear waters of Lake Mälaren and The Baltic Sea.
To the east lies the archipelago with its 24,000 islands. To the west are the more sheltered beaches and islands of Mälaren.
Sweden, A Singing Nation
Sweden with its 9 million inhabitants is a choir singing nation – 600,000 - 700,000 Swedes sing in choirs each week.
In Stockholm there are over 15 leading international chamber choirs.
And here, in the city of Stockholm, you'll find Adolf Fredrik's Music Classes and Adolf Fredrik's Girls Choir. Welcome!

750th Anniversary
Stockholm celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2002. In 1252 the founder of Stockholm, Birger Jarl, drew up two documents dated and signed in Stockholm. The documents do not actually relate to Stockholm, but do confirm that Jarl was in Stadsholmen (the Old Town) that year. This is the oldest instance of the use of the name Stockholm.
